A PEAK EXPERIENCE with The Manimals
featuring Zoe Briskey, hosted by Sara Hennessey
Have you ever wished you could transform your life? Wished you could realize your truest self? Wished you were a little bit taller, a baller, etc? Queer glam rock band The Manimals are thrilled to celebrate their most recent single “Peak Experiences” with an evening of music, comedy, and transcendental happenings at Club Cumming on Friday August 23rd! Wear glitter and take part in our End of Summer ritual- if you’ve been longing for a peak experience, this is your chance. Featuring a set by electronic pop artist Zoe Briskey, and hosted by comedian Sara Hennessey.
The Manimals are not a cult- they’re just a regular New York City band teaching their acolytes how to find transcendence at the rock gig, of course. They have been making uniquely genre-fluid music since 2011, but its hallmarks include big pop hooks, messy punk attitude, and glam rock spectacle. Inspired in equal parts by David Bowie and Kesha, horror movies and drag queens, myths and psychedelia, they live somewhere between deeply stupid and absolutely genuine. Led by the irrepressibly entertaining Haley Bowery (who is often covered in blood), The Manimals are a party and a queer fever dream wrapped in a messiah complex (but in a fun way!)
Sara Hennessey is an acclaimed Toronto comedian who now lives in Brooklyn, New York. She is the co-star, co-creator & co-writer of the CBC COMEDY series Terrific Women. She’s a Canadian Comedy Award winner for Best Female Stand Up, has recorded multiple stand up tapings at JUST FOR LAUGHS festival in Montreal, and also has 3 stand up albums available, “Huge Bitch,” “They Know Too Much” & “Trouble in Saradise.” Sara has written on Popularity Papers (YTV), The Stanley Dynamic (YTV), Spun Out (CTV), and more. Sara writes and performs for television whenever possible, and has a whirling affinity for live comedy & making indie projects with her incredibly talented friends.
Hailing from New York City, Zoe Briskey is one of the most exhilarating electronic-pop artists of this generation. Musically she synthesizes mainstream pop with an experimental electronic touch. Her clever and caring nature can be felt through her lyrics, which center around queer love and the discovery and empowerment of oneself. Self built, self funded, and entirely self produced, Zoe is intoxicating to be around, unabashed to be herself in her music and in her engagement with the LGBTQ+ community.
