Come join Jake Benjamin and his as he closes out 2022 with songs from his record, Broken Stars, and new compositions for the project ahead. He will be joined by singer-songwriter, Alec Hutson.
About Jake Benjamin: Jake’s overall sensibility is a “beyond pop” aesthetic that favors evocative feelings and engaging storylines over punchy pop songcraft. He works his craft through the use of his effect pedals and loopers that he uses in his performance with his band. Jake was at a personal and artistic crossroads when he wrote his latest body of work, collectively known as Broken Stars. This artistically adventurous and boldly vulnerable opus was inspired by reading The Letters of Vincent van Gogh, a collection of correspondences from Van Gogh to his brother, Theo.
About Alec Hutson: Alec Hutson makes thinking music. Wistful by the open window music. He makes lover’s music. And lovers’ music. Sweating-hard-from-singing-your-little-heart-out-on-the-interstate music. And always real musician’s music: technical, punchy, intricate. Usually, it’s all these things at the same time. A veteran of the New England festival and venue scenes, Hutson mixes his silky voice with an innovative multi-instrumentalism to create “a groovy indie sound that’s both catchy and contemplative” (WBUR ARTery). With a new single following the release of his two part album Suspended Animation, Hutson has proven time-and-again to possess that rarest of gifts: a talent for creating music of the moment, whatever that moment may be.
